Structured risk tools are commonly used when assessing violence in children and young people, however they can rely on third party information. Excluding the voice of the child means that information is missed, their views are lost, and formulation is therefore incomplete. This presentation will review the literature and research in relation to conducting structured forensic assessments for children and young people. It will also consider whatgood practice may look like when completing a child-centred risk assessment and the ethical dilemmas that can occur.
